Welcome to Minot, North Dakota.
Minot is a city located in north central North Dakota, USA. With 36,567 people, Minot is the fourth largest city in the state. The city is the county seat of Ward County and the trading centre of a large portion of northern North Dakota, southeastern Saskatchewan, and southwestern Manitoba. Minot is known as the Magic City. It is a commercial and transportation center for an extensive agricultural, lignite-mining, and oil-producing region. Manufactures include building materials, petroleum compounds, and farm machinery. Minot State Univ. and a state agricultural experiment station are there. Nearby is Minot Air Force Base. Points of interest include the Theodore Roosevelt Park and Zoo and a nearby wildlife refuge.
Minot is the center of a rich agricultural region. It has a population of approximately 35,000. In addition there are 12,000+ people at the Minot Air Force Base located 15 miles north of Minot. Minot was recognized as an All America City by the National Civic League in 1992. We have excellent public and private school systems whose students have consistently ranked #1 or #2 in the nation on various tests that compare them with students in other states. We also have Minot State University with an annual enrollment of approximately 3,300 students. MSU offers 4-year college degrees and some graduate programs. Minot is the region's center for quality health care with two fully accredited, full-treatment hospitals, an emergency response network of ambulance teams including a helicopter, and two nursing home facilities. Minot serves as the hub of commerce for northwestern North Dakota, and has a nationally recognized development program. Several international companies including Sykes Enterprises Inc., Reliastar and the just announced Northwest Airlines/MLT World Vacations have moved offices or headquarters to Minot in the past 2 years. Minot offers a year-round calendar of arts and cultural events. Minot has a healthy climate for fun and physical activity with four seasons that provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities for all. Minot is proud of its 600 acres of zoo and parkland. Two of our Parks: Theodore Roosevelt Park and Oak Park caress the banks of the Souris River as it courses its way through the "Magic" Minot Valley. The zoo features the state's largest collection of exotic animals.
